Partial Sea day Feb5th

Day 30

I say partial sea day because we are scheduled to arrive in Auckland, New Zealand today but not until 6:30 p.m.  Today was my last photography class, I took away a little better understanding of white balance, now if I remember all this when I am taking pictures.  We went to the movies they were showing Battleship, we walked out halfway through, what a dumb movie.

I am not sure if you can tell from the pictures but we are experiencing gale force winds blowing up to 35-40 knots, we are in the lee of some islands so the ocean swell is not present but it sure is choppy and getting cooler.  The temps are only around 70, nice change from all the heat & humidity we’ve had so far. The last time I was here we flew in and traveled around with a motorhome, sailing into Waitemata Harbor gives us quite a different perspective.  Auckland is known as the City of Sails and now we can understand why, there are sailboats everywhere you look. We are docked right in the city center great for exploring.  By the time we dock and get cleared by customs and immigrations it is around 7, that doesn’t leave much time before dark to explore, but we want to get off and do some walking.  WE call it an early night and rest up as we have the whole day tomorrow to explore.
